I finally had some time to sit down and download some of the pictures from our trip. I've been back for one week and already miss Chile so much. This trip was really one of those life altering experiences. Chileans are so incredibly warm and welcoming, we had such an amazing time taking in their culture, culinary creations, and their beautiful country.
The first part of out trip was a two-day stay in Santiago, Chile. Santiago is the capital and largest city of Chile, located in the country's central valley. Below are some pictures of Santiago's downtown and it's beautiful architectural buildings.
This is the view of Santiago from the top of Cerro San Cristobal (San Cristobal Hill), which is the second highest point in the city at 2,888 ft above sea level.
The remaining five days of our trip we spent them in the Chilean wine country of Colchagua Valley, about two hours south of Santiago. I can't even begin to describe our stay at the
Relais Chateaux property
Lapostolle Residence. This place was what I picture heaven to look like. The property is made up of 650 hectares of hillside, beautiful vineyards, and natural terrain of the region.
The views throughout the property are simply stunning and breathtaking. Above is a picture of the owner's private wine cellar. Everyday we enjoyed artfully prepared traditional Chilean cuisine paired with exquisite
Lapostolle Clos Apalta wines. Meals were served on the terrace of the Main House with endless views of the beautiful vineyards.
We woke up every morning to the view of this beautiful hillside.
The cuisine was like nothing I had ever experienced before! Every meal consisted of three appetizers, a main dish, an entree, and dessert....OMGeeeeeee! And every dish was equally beautiful and delicious.
We enjoyed some hiking and horseback riding through out the beautiful property.
View of
Lapostolle Residence and it's four private casitas from the top of our hike. We can't even begin to describe our experience in Chile, all we know is that we will definitely return!
Have a wonderful weekend!
